Blissful ignorance

Out here in the freezing cold

In a place known for being hot

I wonder why the weather’s so cranky

Monsoon showers in December

I wonder why man is so stupid

Unmindful of nature’s warning signs

Going about his work uncaring

About seasons changing and upturning

I sense an uneasy calm

Nature working up its anger

We’ll just stand by and watch

Helpless…puny weaklings

Civilizations have vanished

Cities have perished

It’s just the way it’s always been

A full circle.

Nature’s ways

Poet tree

With words I sow

Scattering them around with wild abandon

Fodder for birds

Food for thought

Ideas of delight

In fertile minds, they sprout

And germinate

Out of dry barren earth

And stone hard hearts

A shoot of green emerges

Cracking up the terrain

With explosive creative force

This tiny little nut

Frail and weak little seed

From where this life force?

Is it the dew drop that soaked?

Or sun-rays that warmed?

Or is it the soil fertile and moist?

Or is it just the way it is

That life happens. No matter what.

Thoughts

Thoughts flutter by

Lingering

A moment

Then darts away

From grasp

No time for poems

No time to think

No time for words to trickle in

And flow out into a blank page

Blotches of black on white

No time to write

As I keep doing

There’s some much to do

Though I don’t know what

No time to waste

In meaningless thoughts

And empty words

When I have work to do

No time to live

As I work hard

Trading time to live

And for good times

Caught in the spinning wheels

Keeping up with its relentless pace

I’m in the race

A spoke in the wheel called progress

This empty noise.

Barges into my unwelcome ears.

This noise.

The monotonous crack of crackers.

Marking time like dripping tapwater.

Empty noises that echo in the empty walls of my mind.

The sound of Celebrations?

Hollow.

This noise meant to bring joy.

Echoes.

This empty noise banging on my ear drums,

making me want to clutch my temples.

The screams of me, me, me

Arising from empty throats

Gasping like their last breaths

Hunger in their eyes

This empty noise

This greed

This hunger

I shut my eyes.

And my mind.

In my wakeful sleep.
